Generating Revenue With Carbon Credits
Carbon credits, through the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), enables Manna to generate revenue from the production of clean water and efficient energy.
- The carbon credit market is designed to lower global emissions through market-based mechanisms. Each carbon credit represents one ton of carbon dioxide removed or not emitted to the atmosphere.
- The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Millennium Development Goal Carbon Facility enables Manna to apply the CDM carbon credit market to humanitarian development.
- Manna provides renewable energy technologies to developing communities, thereby reducing the demand for firewood as a fuel source.
- The generated Certified Emission Reductions (CERs or ‘carbon credits’) are issued by the United Nations for a period of ten years from the date of installation. These revenues repay debt, fund operation and maintenance, and replicate technologies around the world.
